Behaviour Workshop for Parents

Matt Haslett, the DECD Behaviour Coach for our school, was enthusiastically received by parents who attended last night’s brief behaviour workshop.

He is running another longer workshop for parents called ‘8+2=success!’ about the eight things parents can do to set their children up for academic success and the two parenting behaviours they can stop if they want to help their child behave well at school. The workshop is at 2:15pm to 3:10pm in the staffroom next Thursday 25th February. It is particularly relevant to parents of students in Years R-4. Parents who have not already booked in should do so to dl.0723.info@schools.sa.edu.au

AH Basketball – Urgent help needed

Coordinator assistant

We urgently need a parent to help with the Basketball coordinator role. Sherie Carpenter is currently looking after Basketball but needs someone to work alongside her due to health issues. Sherie cannot commit to the whole year without support. Please contact Sherie on 0411690775 or Wayne Hunt on 82761523 if you can help and ensure basketball can continue to be offered as part of your children’s After Hours Sport opportunities.

Coach

We also need a parent who can coach a Year 5 team. A team can only be entered into the competition if we have a parent or two willing to take on this role. The team is a couple of players short and so we also encourage interested children to register.

Please consider volunteering some time to keep Basketball available at CLGPS

The Fun Begins!

Fences have been erected around the first areas to have the bitumen replaced and they cut the school in half! You can no longer walk from Doolette to Grange through the school yard. We will be going out of the school grounds and along the Mortlock path for a few days.

Access to the school has changed, with the entrance between Mortlock and the Hall closed as well as the access from the laneway near the bike shed.

The laneway will be closed on occasion during the next two weeks, so definitely don’t park there or rely on it for ‘Kiss and Drop’ – use West Parkway for that.

We will lose the western bike shed, but they have built us a bike enclosure on the basketball court. I would suggest that children in Lower Mortlock, Reade and Doolette use that bike enclosure. Students in Grange and Upper Mortlock should use the eastern bike shed.

The exciting part is that work is due to be completed before Easter, in time for our 90th birthday!

Thank you for your patience,

Sue Woollard

Principal

Softball Registration

Softball teams need to nominated by NEXT TUESDAY!! Matches begin around Week 3, so we are under the pump!

Please hand the yellow registration forms into the school office as soon as you can so that teams can be finalised. Matches are Saturday mornings 8:30 or 9:45am for an hour, with an hour practice one night after school. No experience necessary! If you would like more info please contact the co-ordinator Sharon Harvey: theharveys@adam.com.au.

Thanks!

Reminder re: SPORTS REGISTRATION EVENING

Sports Registration is on this Wednesday evening (3rd Feb) between 5 and 6 o’clock. All students wishing to be involved in After Hours sport in 2015 will need to attend with a parent to register for their chosen Summer and Winter sports. Year 1 & 2 students who expressed an interest at the 2015 sports expo will need to confirm their involvement by coming along to register in that sport.

HELP NEEDED!

After hours sport is run and coached by parent volunteers

We need parents to register their details and willingness to assist either as coaches, assistant coaches or managers so teams can be confirmed. Teams cannot be entered into the competition unless a coach and manger is confirmed.. It is a great way to get involved and no previous experience necessary.

SOCCER

URGENT help needed! –Olivia Kemp, last year’s Soccer coordinator has moved down south and we urgently need a parent or a couple of parents who can take over this vital coordinators role. The continuation of soccer depends on this role being filled as soon as possible. Olivia will be attending Registration night and is happy to talk you through the role. Please contact Wayne Hunt, Deputy Principal, if you can help out.

Thanks in anticipation of your support
