After School Sports 2019 – Registrations Open Now

Registrations for both summer and winter sports are open now!

Students in Years 2-7 in 2019 can now register. Parents, please consider how you might be able to help out. Roles for volunteers include; coordinators, coaches, team managers or helping out with an assortment of jobs on the day.

Information about registering was sent home with students today but you can also download the flyer here: after school sports 2019 registration info-2ig0p1x

In 2019, the cost of playing after school sports has risen. This was first suggested by the After School Sports Committee and was approved by the Governing Council and Finance Committee. The cost of playing sport at CLGPS has remained constant for the previous 8 years. In this time, the cost of umpires, equipment, uniforms, association registrations and admin costs have increased dramatically. The school has also committed to taking on more of the associated administrative tasks to relieve pressure on parent volunteers.

Therefore, in 2019, registering for basketball will cost $30 for summer and/or winter (as basketballers also pay an entrance fee of around $5 at the stadium) and all other sports will cost $90.

In comparison to many local sporting clubs, this is a very reasonable price for a season of sport. The school provides most, if not all equipment and uniforms for most sports and ensures maximum participation without restrictions on ability, gender or experience. Some sports do have age restrictions, with most sports beginning in Year 2 and softball in Year 3 (if they have enough for a junior team).

Registrations for summer sports finish very early in Term 1, so better to register early!

NAPLAN Online in 2019

CLGPS has been informed that in 2019 we will be transitioning to online NAPLAN testing. This involves lots of preparation and testing of our network. One step along the way is conducting a trial test later this term. A variety of students will undertake a mock NAPLAN test to see how our school network copes with the online requirements.

The Department for Education has released the following statement, outlining some of the details about this transition to online testing and how relevant data will be collected, used and kept secure.

Winter Sports – Late Registration – Last Chance!

Winter sports registrations are now overdue!

Parents can now register their students to play Netball, Football, Basketball or Soccer in Terms 2 and 3 but time is running out. This deadline has been temporarily extended to allow some additional bookings.

AFL football numbers are quite low. If you have students interested in playing, please register them, otherwise CLGPS will not be able to field our own teams in 2018.

Students registered by the deadline of 9th March will be placed in teams first, however we will endeavour to ensure all students are in a team where possible. If you are concerned about losing your registration money, any students not placed in a team will be refunded.

More information about each sport can be found in the attached PDF:

After school sports can’t happen without a huge amount of parent participation. Please consider if you can contribute by taking on a coaching, managing or coordinator role.

Please be quick as registrations will close in the coming days!
