Instrumental Music Tuition 2015

Dear Parents,

Access to Instrumental Music tuition is available through DECD under certain provisos. Lessons will be provided to groups of students who will have the opportunity to practice as an ensemble. Parents will be responsible to transport students to school locations where this tuition is provided depending on the instrument they choose. Colonel Light Gardens is part of the Hillside Hub and lessons and ensemble practice will be provided in a neighbouring school where there are sufficient numbers of students applying to learn that instrument. This usually occurs once a week.

Primary Years Programs

Students can commence the study of a string instrument from Year 3, with tuition in classical guitar, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments starting in Year 5. Students need to access an instrumental lesson each week and a regular ensemble lesson. Students who have commenced study of an instrument in the primary years may continue tuition in the secondary years.

If you are interested in your child learning an instrument next year please collect an expression of interest form from the front office.

Christmas Giving Tree

We are again collecting non-perishable food items and groceries for a food drive for St Vincent de Paul.  Each student is coming home with a gift tag as an example of what types of donations we are looking for, but any donation is greatly appreciated. Each class also has a flyer of suggested items that St Vincent de Paul urgently require.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY PRODUCTS WITH EXPIRED USE-BY DATES.

We thank you and look forward to your support of this activity. Let’s make this a wonderful Christmas for the under privileged families of our community. We hope to have lots of food parcels to hand on to St Vincent de Paul to support those in need of help to have a nice Christmas dinner.  St Vincent de Paul will be collecting the food at the end of the term.

07/11/2014 cricket training cancelled

Dear  parents of CLGPS cricket players,
Our school policy, in line with the cricket association, calls for cricket sessions including training to be cancelled when forecast temperatures are 36 or more. Consequently Kanga cricket and cricket training is cancelled for today.
