In Term 4 last year 111 parents accessed the Parent Opinion Survey to provide feedback to our school. We appreciated the time and effort given and hope parents can see action as a result of their feedback. Some were easy to action in the short term and others will take several years to achieve. Key actions that have arisen as a result of this feedback include, but are not limited to:

• Swimming lessons moved indoors
• A grounds plan developed and grounds renewal begun. This is at least a three year process.
• Teacher training in differentiating curriculum begun and attention paid to students at both ends of the achievement ‘spectrum’ (this is an ongoing work in progress).

If you have comments to offer to help our school in its quest for continuous improvement – now is the time! Ideas, accolades, criticisms, suggestions and offers of support are all very welcome. There are only 16 questions and plenty of opportunity to comment as well, if you wish.

Dear Parents

Further to my email today re: two students being approached by a man while on their way home from school yesterday, I want to add that the matter has been reported to Police.

It is important to note that no physical contact was made with the children and no demands were made of them. It may be the case that the man’s actions were perfectly legitimate.

I do not wish to be alarmist about this or similar situations, however it is my role to keep the school community informed of events and facts so that parents and caregivers can make informed decisions.

Last night on the way home from school 2 of our students were approached by a man on Catherine St and on Murray Street , Colonel Light Gardens.

He was described as an older person with grey hair, a black moustache and glasses. He was asking them about the new CLG uniform (t shirt) to try and engage them in conversation.

He was driving a small darker blue hatchback.

The boys did exactly the right thing and ran home and reported it to their parents.

Please emphasise safety routines with the students.

PROPOSED MATERIALS AND SERVICES CHARGE FOR 2015

Section 106A of the Education Act enables schools, in consultation with the school council /community to set, collect and recover a Material and Services Charge. 

The Governing Council will be holding a meeting on Monday 27^th of October 2014 at 7:00pm in the Staff Room to approve the Materials and Services Charge for 2015.  This is an open meeting to all parents.  In lieu of attendance at the Governing Council meeting, parents can express their views in writing to the Chairperson. 

Attached is the written verification from the Chief Executive Officer in the form of a ‘Watermarked Notice’.

Any enquiries about the charge can be referred to Amanda Jackson, Business Manager on 8276 1523.
