Reminder – Parent and Child Digital Technologies Workshop Tuesday 6th September 2016

What: Parent and Child workshop

When : Tuesday 6th September 6.30-8.00pm

Where: Doolette Building

Teachers are running a series of “come and try” workshops for you and your children. Each child will need to enroll in a workshop with a parent.

Our most popular workshops are now full (spheros, green screen movie making and lego mindstorms)

We still have a few spaces in:

writers workshop (60 minutes),  R-4

Puppet Pals Storytelling (30 minutes) R-7

Beebots (30 minutes) R-3

Unplugged coding (30 minutes) R- 3

Scratch (30 minutes) 4-7

Explain Everything (30 minutes) 4-7

If you would like to attend, please email stating child’s name and class and workshop preference. If selecting a 30 minute workshop, please choose 3 in case one of your choices becomes unavailable. There is plenty of room in the Writers’ Workshop so no need for a second choice for that. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

An additional RAN training session will be run next week :

Wednesday 31st August,

in the staff room  – Jodie Cunningham

At the beginning of the school year, DECD changed the requirement for ALL adults to have a DCSI Relevant History Screening when volunteering within a school. It is however, a very useful thing to have as it means we can invite you to school camps and excursions, you can volunteer to be a sports coach and much more!

All non-parent volunteers (e.g. community mentors, grandparents and other family members), require a DCSI Relevant History Screening. If you do not have a current Relevant History Clearance, please email : or            call(08) 8276 1523 and we shall get that process under way for you.

Part of working with children as a volunteer includes attending a brief, one hour (usually a bit shorter) workshop we refer to as RAN Training (“Responding to Abuse and Neglect”), historically referred to as “Mandatory Reporting”. We run these sessions a couple of times each term. If you have not completed this RAN workshop and need to do so, the next workshops are planned for:

Wednesday 31st August 5.30pm-6.30pm in the staff room – Jodie Cunningham
Wednesday 14th September – 7.30am – 8.30am – Wayne Hunt
Wednesday 14th September – 2.15pm – 3.10pm – Jodie Cunningham

Please RSVP to stating which RAN workshop you wish to attend.

The Fundraising Committee have decided to reduce the entry ticket to Ladies Night to $15!  We’re hoping this will encourage more people to attend in support of our school!  Ladies Night is the main parental fundraiser for 2016.  Enjoy a great night of socialising, welcomed with a glass of champagne or a soft drink and pizza. Fantastic stall holders are confirmed, incredible raffle prizes are arranged, and more!  100% of funds raised will go towards supporting the upgrade of the science/kitchen space, which will benefit our gorgeous kids!

       Wednesday 14th September, 6.30 – 9.30pm,             CLGPS Langley Hall.

Those who have already purchased tickets at the full price have been contacted to arrange refunds.

Parent and Child Digital Technology Workshop

Digital Technology Parent and Child workshop

Tuesday 6th September 6.30-8pm

Last year, we held a very well attended parent and child workshop on coding and the new Digital Technologies curriculum. This year we would like parents to be able to experience more than that – some examples of how we use digital technology across the curriculum. Each child will need an adult so that you can work together in the workshops.  The workshops are 30 minutes and 60 minutes in length. If signing up for a 30 minute workshop, choose two different options. If signing up for a 60 minute workshop, you will only participate in the one workshop.  However, please nominate 2 extra workshops that you and your child are interested in as some workhops will definitely be oversubscribed so I will need to do a “first in best dressed” allocation.

Please EMAIL me your completed form ASAP (click Parent child digital tech workshop RSVP ) Paper RSVPs can be dropped in to the front office.
